Today celebrates the birthday of Mehmet Korkmaz, a powerful name in the Haute Couture scene. He is the only Turkish designer to have received the Entrepreneur of the Year award from the European Business Council in London and the European Achievement Quality Award from ESQR (European Society for Quality Research) in Switzerland.

“It’s impossible to draw sharp lines between fashion and art. Haute couture is a field where craftsmanship and creativity meet at their highest point. Each piece is not just a garment, but also a story encompassing emotions, narratives, and technical mastery. For me, every design is a timeless work of art; every detail crafted by hand is as meaningful as a brushstroke on a painter’s canvas,” says Mehmet Korkmaz. His collections stand out for their meticulous craftsmanship and elegance.

The designer, who operates according to a timeless aesthetic rather than trends, emphasizes that haute couture should be independent of rapidly consumed trends. Of course, he also highlights the importance of capturing the spirit of the times. “Hand craftsmanship is the soul of haute couture, and the only way to preserve it is to reach people who appreciate its value. True couture, unlike fast fashion, is an art that defies time. To sustain this, we need to keep the culture of education, mastery, and craftsmanship alive,” says Mehmet Korkmaz, adding, “My mission is to pass this art on to new generations and build the future of haute couture.”
