Bassigue's approach to "essential pieces" is quite refined. What are those small but defining details that take a piece beyond "ordinary" and make it Bassigue's signature?

At Bassigue, what sets us apart isn't actually big things; it's small but conscious decisions. The fit of the cut, the relationship the fabric has with the skin. The pleasing quality of our embroidery. For us, the most important criterion is that you feel comfortable in a piece all day long. It's precisely these details that transform a seemingly simple piece into something that "feels good."

You have a wide sales network, ranging from Vakkorama to Gilt Japan. Observing fashion sensibilities in different cultures, how do you think the "universal spirit" at the core of the brand resonates in each market?

We've noticed this in different markets: people dress differently, but the need to feel good and comfortable is the same for everyone. That's where Bassigue's universal spirit comes from. A state of being understated, comfortable, yet thoughtful. It resonates in Istanbul, Tokyo, and Stockholm because everyone wants to wear what they feel comfortable in first.

When preparing seasons like SS’25 or FW’24, who is the imaginary character that comes to mind before you start designing? Where in the world is that person wearing these clothes, and what are they doing?

When we start each season, a similar character always comes to mind: someone living in the city, on the move, but who knows how to create space for themselves. It's not actually one person, but different women who share the same perspective. Someone who can maintain their own rhythm in the flow of daily life, grabbing their morning coffee and going for a walk, attending a meeting, meeting friends in the evening…

For us, what's important is that the clothing accompanies this life. We design pieces that make things easier, not harder. A wardrobe that can transition from day to night, that can be layered, that adapts to travel, and that prioritizes comfort. Because good design should keep up with the pace of life, not slow it down.

Bassigue is not just a clothing brand; it emphasizes a lifestyle. Beyond the clothes, what kind of experience or feeling do you promise your followers?

In our world, clothing is actually a tool; a tool that reduces pressure and makes life easier. We are trying to create a world that fosters the feeling of being yourself, not the stress of what to wear.

In today's fast-paced consumer world, what does the concept of "timelessness" mean to you? How do you manage your focus on quality so that a Bassigue piece remains in your wardrobe even years later?

For us, timelessness isn't about staying away from trends, it's about making the right decisions.

A good fabric, a good fit, and a piece you'll truly want to wear… We always proceed with this question in the design process: "Would I still want to wear this in two years?" If the answer isn't a clear "yes," that product doesn't come out. On the production side, we work with a vertically integrated structure where we can control everything. This allows us to create pieces that not only look good but are truly long-lasting. For us, quality isn't about looking good on day one; To maintain the same feeling even after being worn repeatedly.

What is the "signature" attitude of the Bassigue woman/man in a single word?

Comfortable self-confidence. A stance that doesn't require self-affirmation. An attitude that doesn't force anything, doesn't shout, but is noticeable.

Which city/route best reflects the spirit of the brand?

It's hard to name just one city, but… I'd say the chaos of Istanbul + the tranquility of the Aegean. A little bit urban, a little bit of a spirit wanting to escape.

When designing a collection, what is the most inspiring iconic object or photograph on your desk?

Our biggest inspiration is actually real life. People's imperfect, natural selves. And fabrics… especially soft textures. Often, touching a fabric starts a design idea. We usually imagine our Bassigue woman and think, "How will this piece live in her life?"

Do you envision the Bassigue brand five years from now as just a clothing brand, or as an expanded lifestyle ecosystem?

We've never seen Bassigue as just a clothing brand. Clothing is our starting point, but what we really do is build a world. We love making people and brands a part of this world. That's what's reflected in our collaborations today; we don't just produce products, we come together with brands that share the same perspective. We want to grow this even more in the next 5 years. To create a space where more people and brands are included in the Bassigue world, where they feel comfortable and good. Because for us, what matters is not what you wear, but how you feel in it.

What is that one dominant feeling you want someone who has walked through the Bassigue world to feel when they put on your clothes?

Comfort. But not just physical comfort, but mental comfort. A state of comfort where there are no questions like "Is it okay? Is it enough?", a comfort that doesn't make you think but makes you feel good.
