It's quite striking that you present the brand name with a pronunciation guide in your biography. How does the phonetics and meaning of the name AZURÉE MARE shape the brand's visual world?
“The name Azurée Mare reflects a calm yet powerful feeling. ‘Azurée’ evokes shades of blue, while ‘Mare’ means sea. This feeling shapes the brand's visual world; we strive to create a simple, feminine, and timeless aesthetic.”
Your designs feature both a minimalist aesthetic and a dramatic flair created by décolletage and draping. What mainstream or art form inspires you in achieving this balance?
“We draw inspiration from the timeless approach of modernism. We like to balance clean silhouettes with more feminine details in our designs. Drapes and décolletage details reinforce this contrast.”
While fashion is consumed very quickly these days, we see a much more selective and curated approach at AZURÉE MARE. How do you position the “effortless yet assertive” look your designs promise within the complex pace of today’s modern woman?
“Today, women take on many different roles throughout the day, and the pieces they wear need to adapt to this. For us, elegance shouldn’t look overly elaborate. At Azurée Mare, we try to create a simpler yet powerful stance. It’s important that the designs feel comfortable and make the woman feel more confident.”
In the visuals, the dialogue between the fabric and the body is very prominent. In the SS’26 collection, what tactile materials did you experiment with?
“For our SS’26 collection, we focused on fabrics that fit the body but feel light. We worked with materials that support the drape. For us, the feel of the fabric on the skin was as important as its appearance.”
Your modern cuts are quite assertive. In your opinion, what is the most important characteristic a design should possess to go from being a “trend” to becoming an “iconic” piece?
“What makes a piece iconic is its timelessness. It shouldn’t just look like a trend of one era. It’s important that it has a strong silhouette and can still have the same impact years later.”
“We see that you offer a ‘Custom Order’ option. How do the ready-to-wear collection and the bespoke tailoring process complement each other?”
“The custom order process gives us the opportunity to develop designs in a more personalized way. Thanks to color alternatives, size adjustments, and personalizations made according to the customer’s wishes, we can better observe how people want to feel in a piece. This process also feeds into the ready-to-wear collections because it allows us to see more closely what our customers are drawn to and what details they connect with.”
The language and aesthetic on your Instagram profile give the impression that the brand has a global vision. In which world capitals will we see AZURÉE MARE in the near future?
“In the near future, we are working on making the brand more visible, especially in cities with a strong presence in the fashion world, such as Milan, Paris, and New York.
Today, it's not enough for a fashion brand to just produce "beautiful clothes"; it's necessary to create an "aura." How do you maintain this refined approach in the digital realm?
"Today, people buy not just products, but also feelings. We are trying to create a simpler, timeless, and consistent world on the digital side. We think of everything not as fast-consuming content, but as part of the brand as a whole."
